engine painting

well its more of a minor part of the motor. I was wondering of a good product to use to clean off the road grime so the paint will stick to the 3400 SFI part of the motor. Also i cant get any tape to stick to it, what kinds do you reccomend? thanks

Simple Green would work, but to paint it you would want to take sandpaper or a wire brush to it to get everything off the surface.

I used Carb Cleaner to clean UIM before I painted it. It is cheap and will take about anything off of anything. Just spray it on and rub a little and it will clean it right up.
