I have a rattle or a sound like somthing is loose in the rear end, specifically the passenger rear. Its not really a squeak but rather a rattling sound when hitting small bumps and rough areas. Any ideas on what this could be and how to fix this problem. Thanks!

Check your muffler and exhaust strap(s). I'm not sure how they are on the 5th gens, but I know that if they are rusty/loose they can make noises like that over bumps.

Also could be a bad strut mount plate. I have the exact same problem. Just rattles over certain small bumps.

what did you have to do to remedy the problem, it is kind of annoying at times...?

Same problem here. Mine is the inner sway bar bushings. If you are lucky....you have the same problem. It's an easy fix.

I have an "01 Alero" and had the same problem on the pass. rear. I replaced the struts & it solved the rattling problem. The struts were shot as there was no more rebound action due to lost gas in the struts. PS: GM N body factory struts are junk.
