99 GA 2nd gear issue

I am getting minimal power when in second gear. I stomp on the pedal to the floor and it seems like the car responds very sluggishly with minimal power. Only happens in second gear till I hit about 4500-5000 or so on the tach then it kicks in a little. Any ideas? Tranny was rebuilt at 54K and now I have 95K on the car. I have a chevy Venture with the same engine that does nothing like this. If I gas it it takes off like a torque beast. Thanks for your help.

When you stomp it, does it attempt to shift back down into first, or do you have a manual transmission?

manual, and when I stomp on it's VERY slow to climb the RPM's. Fuel issue?

Wait... you have a manual on the 3400? I thought it was only on the Twin Cam.
