I have always had problems with my grand am..I've spent way more in repairs than the car cost me. Around christmas time I had my LIM repaired (for the second time), but I was still having some problems with my engine getting hot.
Never overheating..but way hotter than it should be, enough to make you worry. At this point in time Im pretty tired of sinking money into it, so I never cared to check it out. With my passangerside wheel bearing going worse and worse everything I hear it..I thought maybe I should try to see (once again) if I could get my car to running a decent temp before I paid money to replace it. So I asked / looked around..Picked up a new thermostat and coolant cap.
I went to start taking it apart to get to the thermostat housing a couple days ago..I took off the first peice of my CAI and I find a interesting little bugger in the piping up against the MAF..(on the right side).
This is not my doing, as I had not cut these when I installed the CAI..and the last person to have it off was my mechanic.
Take a peek see at my surprise:

As you can see..it's a portion of coupler that had been (after I started looking) cut from the coupler on the TB. I guess maybe the mechanic thought it his duty to modify my parts
Nevertheless, I thought for kicks I'd put it backtogether real quick (without the extra peices clogging my intake) and changed my cap. I've had it out a couple times now and it's stayed right at the right temp..a little warm in stop and go traffic but it's ran fantastic compared to what It was doing.
And in conclusion..What do you think? Harmless accident or sabatoge?
I'm not too sure how you can 'accidently' get a peice of coupler in a pipe it is sized to go AROUND personally.
