so i decided to replace my headlight bulbs and everything was fine until i tried to put the new bulbs in the socket. they plugged right in to the connectors but that wont fit snug into the assembly. the little rubber ring wont keep the bulbs in place and now it just barely stays there. any ideas on how to fix this?

How are you trying to replace them? If you're trying to do it with the headlamps still attached to the car, its a pain in the ass, and you have to play with it.
The 2001's should have a quick-release for the assembly, pull the entire assembly out, put the bulb in well, twist it to lock it in, then put the assembly back in.

the problem is it wont lock in when i twist it. nothing happens when i twist it, it just twists around on the rubber ring.

Might need a new ring. Dealer should have them for about 8 bucks, IIRC

You have to replace the black plastic bulb ring. There are three plastic fins inside the ring that breaks off very EASY! I have a GA 2000, and I had to replace my headlight bulb last week. The plastic ring fins broke off like butter when I turned it. Then I notice the other bulb was hanging lose because the fins had already broken off.
That’s the good news, the bad news was trying to put the assembly back in so the clips would push down. You need patience and a bit of prayer to lock back in place. lol
