I have got a new shift knob that I want to put on in place of the stock shift lever. Can anyone tell me how to remove the stock shift lever on a 2001 GA?

There's a metal clip holding it on. Shift it into 1st gear so you can see it and use a small flat head screw driver to work it out.

like Matt M said there is a small metal clip. Just pull down the leather boot and you'll see it on the side of the shifter that is facing the dash or front of the car. take that out and pull up on the shifter.

Attept to find one in an autoparts store. If you cannot find any, then you'll have to search the internet.

ive only found manuals in autopart stores, and the automatics ive found on the internet just dont appeal to me. i kinda want something thats not a T and is more than a l stick. I found one at autozone thats kinda like a P and it had LED's to make it glow...but it was manual.

you can look for E-brake handles. When I had my 92 GA i installed a stick type handle. I was made for E-brakes, but worked the same.

Maybe I just lucked out on that though.

Hey guys I got mine from a company called ZeroTek Motorsports. It is carbon fiber and looks and feels really nice. They have an online store at www.zerotek.net with some pretty neat stuff. Also if you are looking for the "i" design look around on ebay, I see them all the time. I am currently looking for one for my girlfriends cavalier. Good luck!!
