Clear coat chrome?

I just picked up a set of tips for my car because I got a good deal on them....but they are not stainless steel - only chromed. I had chromed tips on before and they rusted pretty quick.
Is there anything I can do to prevent these ones from tarnishing as well? Like maybe clear coat them?

clear coat would prob burn off from the heat. but its worth a try. do they make high temp clear?

Yah, they make a ceramic version for engines...my concern is I don't know if it will stick to the chome.
