Hello,
I have a 2000 GT and I just installed reverse glow gauges (bought from customgrandam.com) and I have a few questions.
First, I followed the how to, and unfortunately the how to provides instructions for new gauges that come in pieces. The gauges I received were all one solid unit. They did not have the tach, speedo, fuel, and temp gauges seperate. Installing them without removing the needles was impossible, so I had to go through the whole "tweaking" process to get them on right.
Also, in the 2000 GT's, they have the raised gauges, unlike the 02 to 05's where the clusters have flat gauges. I wasn't sure if this made a world of difference or not, so I just installed the new ones over top of that. The new gauges were pretty thick, and I'm wondering if I should have completely removed the old "black" gauges first?
Has anyone installed the reverse glo gauges in a 2000 gt? I've searched both here and GrandamGT.com and neither site has definitively answered the question of if you should completely remove the old gauges, or just install the new ones over top of the old ones.
Can someone answer this because if you are supposed to remove the old cluster, then I have some work to do and it's still daylight out so there's no time like the present.
Also, what happens if for whatever reason you pull the needles, and forget where they were. Is there any definitive way to determine how much fuel is left or what temp your car is running so you can "tweak" the needles? This isn't for me, but incase someone else has a 2000 and runs into this problem, this post might help them out.
Thanks for any and all responses!
