im about to paint my vents tomorrow, i got them out and cleaned and sanded today. the only thing im worried about is the swiveling aspect. Did anyone who has painted all of their vents have any issues with making the coats even and looking nice? Im afraid ill just spray it on and the middle of the vents will get less paint than the outsides of the vents... i am however thoroughly surprised at how easy it was to paint this stuff. I havn't painted since elementary school and it turned out nice.

i just used dulicolor primer, plain red duplicolor and some clearcoat duplicolor.
you can kinda see the 4 switchs i mounted next to my legs to, that was a huge pain in the ass. one is for interior neons, one for exteriror neons, one is for the trunk neons. and the blue one is my amp kill switch

well i just tried to paint all of my vents. they look like complete ass. gonna have to sand them down and redo them all. everytime i painted them there would be the parts that are shown when you swivel the vent there would be that unpainted part. and then when i painted that little part it looks like ass cus it was uneven....

You just got to learn how to turn the paint can and rotate the vents. Its a PITA but its not really that hard.

Hang the vents on a coat hanger. ;)

alright after closer inspection i realized how dumb i am. it turns out the vents come out and disassemple into 4 more peices and they look really easy to paint. sorry im a dumbass. i hope the moderators dont warn anyone who makes fun of me, cus i defiantly deserve it... back to sanding...

was about to say,I know my 97 vents come apart into several pieces. Still kind of hard to get nice even coats but its possible.
Glad to hear you found out why and in the process of fixing it!
Hope it turns out good for you this time around!

theres clips inside the vents and you have to use either fishing line or tough string, make a U with it,hook it around the clips and pull. Should be like 3 or 4 in each.

theres a howto on it somewhere, but you just take a closer hanger and pry the 3 clips up and it pops out. they are hard to see though, use a flashlight
