A while ago my mechanic (who I have never had a problem with) told me that the intake manifold gasket and water pump needed to be replaced and that because the manifold gasket was cooked, coolant was getiing into the oil or vice versa. He also told me that it would not be a good idea to drive the car in this condition and if I did I'd cook the engine :(
While the car has been sitting (about 4 months) I have noticed a puddle of coolant next to the intake directly below the throttle body . I have not found any oil in the coolant reseviour or water on the dipstick.
Does this sound right? I don't have a lot of experiance with Pontiac engines but on every other make I've worked on, the water jacket does not run anywhere near the intake manifold. Any help or info I get would be greatly appreciated.:)
