Grim,
I've got an idea of how I can do it. If you can wait for Albany, I can verify that it works. If I can get a hold of a pre-03 at work to try it out, I'll let you know before Albany.

It's possible on some vehicles, but you need (I believe) federal exemption.

... it is programmable as there are a couple Aleros locally owned by the POlice that have the programmed out ... I asked and they told me that a local dealer did it but they had to get the programming downloaded from GM and they flashed it ... can the Tech3 do it, Tim? ... maybe they Tech3 isn't even out yet, I am not sure as I haven't heard about it in a while

No Tech 3. It's called something else. Has 802.11g built in and some other stuff.

Cool ... the last time I heard anything about the 'Tech3' was a year or more ago ... no worries, I don't mind my DRLs but if they are easily removed by your 'possiblity', I might have you do it too ;) :)

On 96-98 cars it is, for sure. I'm not sure if it is on 99+ cars but I don't see why not. There's a lot of things you can enable/disable with a Tech2, just take a look at the Engine Controls section in the factory service manuals ;)

Ok, new project. I just got a tripod with oil pressure, oil temp, and volt gauges.....I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO HOOK ANY OF THEM UP!!! There is a unit for the pressure that replaces a sesor and I don't know if it will void the warranty or anything. Anyone have a clue or installed any of these? Thanks for everything.
Thanks for looking at the DRL problem to Tim....~Grim

hope the stupid thing works.
Have you hooked these up before? The directions for the oil temp guage says I "may have to drill into the oilpan and weld a nut to it" Why would I wanna do that? Do I really? If so, I'm getting a different guage. For the 12+ should I run it to the fuse panel? or go off the stereo or sump? I have no idea.Clueless for lack of a better word~Grim

Yes I installed my VDO oil and voltmeter gauges. Voltmeter is a breeze. Find a wire in your fuse panel that turns on with the ignition and tap into it. Oil pressure you need to remove the stock sending unit, replace it with the one with the gauge, and run one wire from it to the gauge. Both gauges will need illumination. Simple. Pop out the dimmer switch and tap into the grey wire, this will make the gauges dim with your dash lights. Then find any deent ground and your done. :)

What is VDO? Where exactly is the stock sending unit, and is that the piece you have to adapt to the housing that I need? Or will the one I have work? I know the pressure guage came with that adaptor. How would you do the oil temp guage? I don't have to run a wire to the battery for the voltmeter guage, just to a fuse that comes on with ignition? They don't sound bad, just the oil temp one. Any Ideas other than drilling a hile, welding that nut and hoping it doesn't leak lol~Grim

VDO is a brand of gauges.
As for the oil Temp gauge I am unsure of, maybe someone else will know.
The Volt and Oil pressure are fairly easy. If you go to the track I could give you a hand there installing them but I might not be able to help all the way through. I do alot of running around, video taping, racing other people's cars, lol. But there are always plenty of people around to give you a hand that know what they are doing.
