Well, kinda a stupid question in my opinion... but I don't know so I figured this might be the place.. haha

Basically, if someone could give me a quick run down on 1/4 racing for our Grand Am's... like what works and what doesn't.

I'm very new to this all as you can tell, haha. I've been 4-wheeling with my old lifted explorer for two years and just bought my 99 GT 2 months ago after I totalled the truck. I'm out of the loop when it comes to going fast and am just looking for some starting tips!

1. traction control on or off?
2. 1st? or in Drive?
3. pedal to the floor the whole way? or let off to shift at a lower rpm?

Again I apologize for the stupid questions..
Thanks!!!

as far as my experience, traction off, race in third, 1/4 tank or less of gas, everything removeable out of car. race with your stock rims. rev to about 2000 rpm and hold with brake when lights coming down and full throttle at green releasing brake. that should help you on your way to a good reaction time and fastest 1/4 mile. people here might have more to add but tnats the basics.

i use the ebrake so i cna rev a bit hgiher
then drop it as you put the ags to the floor and left off the brake, requires some coridnation but it works well

I do what Mirage said to do, and works out pretty good for me. Passenger seat and back seats are easily removeable, so just take them out.

Let off the brake on the last yellow light. It you wait til the green is actually on you will have a horrible reaction time.
