The bottom bolt on the exhaust manifold after you allready have the exhaust pipe disconnected... Do any of you by chance remember what size Socket you had to use? I can't seem to find one that will fit it... Metric One is to big the next is to small same with Standard. I've been on this same damn bolt for about 3 hrs :2up:

i remeber it being two diff sizes 15m on top and 16m on bottom.
but if the engine is hot or cold might be 15 and 1/2 or 16 and 1/2
check the temp

Not where the manifold bolts up to the engine it's below that right below where the exhaust pipe mounts to the manifold... And just so you know it's a 14.5 but I still can't get it off it is rounded off from the previous mechanic. Ugh Have to get the sawzall out in a little bit and chop it off  Oh for something that has more room under the hood!
After I get it fixed I'm thinking about trading it in, any of you have around a 98 grand am gt standard shift? If so give me advice on what to look for... That's my next car :D

Good Vice Grips might work. I've used them a few times. You might have to get a piece of 2by4 to help you. Some times the grips like to slid off rounded nuts or bolt heads. Use the 2by4 on the opsite side as the nut head.
Umm...squish the grips between the nut head and the 2by4 so it can't slide off the nut head. Making the 2by4 a back board to keep the grips in place so to speak.

Are you talking about the manifold support bracket bolt? It easier to take it off block than the damn manifold.. sunof*****inpieceofshitbolt.............. . . . . . . . . .

Yup that would be the exact bolt..... Found a perfect size.... It's called.... Sawzall :2up:
Got the Manifold off and the waterpump in now :D
By the way I believe the actual size to be a 14.5 metric socket :???:

Yeah, I ALWAYS have to cut them off, after I get them unbolted from the block. Damn rusty POSs

That manifold bracket support bolt is 15mm, but a 12 point socket is a loose fit. I used a 6 point, and heated it with a torch, and it came off. Didn't budge without the heat, but the 6 point didn't slip even when I put a whole lotta effort into it.
I mean...what's the purpose of metric if they are going to run in half sizes? It's always been one of the best things about metric cars....what's one size bigger than a 15mm? 16mm! And usually, a car uses "every other one"....like 10, 12, 14, 16 for most Japanese cars, and 10, 13, 15, 17 for european cars.
Now...what' the next size up from 5/8"? Usually 11/16th's" but I've seen sae sockets in 1/64" increments! nuts!
