my car stumped you

If anyone can figure this out for me, well Ill give you a big e-thanks.

The antenna stopped working, cd player and all is fine, if I got close enough to a station it would eventually pick it up. Whatever I went ahead and bought sirius, it works but the regular radio antenna doesnt. When I attached the FM wire for the sirius to the back window, the sirius stopped working and acted like the FM radio.

Then when I first get start the car for the first 30 mins or so of driving it "surges" the radio is working fine then for about 2 seconds it just gets louder, then back to normal, then louder. Only on the sirius, not cd's.

The passenger side tweeter and mid sound blown, but only on the sirius. If I play a cd they sound just fine no issues what so ever.

So any ideas, guesses, hair brain ideas of what to check? Weve gone over every wire and connection aleast 3 times, cant find anything.

I'd say it is in the head unit or you have a broken FM antenna wire somewhere between the HU and the Antenna.
I'd lean more toward the bad head unit.

get a new head unit. That one is obviously toast. That would account for changes in the volume and speakers playing and such. See if someone you know has one you can test just to make sure.

How would you test it though? Also why does it only do it for the first 30 mins of the car being and only when its started up cold?

you would test it by hooking up a new headunit and seeing if it works correctly. If it still gets screwy then you have a whole nother set of problems.

wait, did you do an alero rear window swap to get the antenna in the rear window?

also, how the heck did you hook up sirius to the Fm antenna? its a different plug.

the sirius needs its own special antenna.

how is sirius hooked up? if its run through the FM modulator then maybe its not plugged in properly. check the connects and check the wire for damages. it could be shorting out on something back there if the insulation is frayed.

Check behind the passenger side kickpanel, there is a coupler there for the antenna, mine started acting like that and I found out that the coupling had come loose.

All the sirius wires are there and right. The stock antenna and the sirius antenna arent connected anywhere. Thats the weird thing, when I put the sirius antenna on the rear window it made the regular FM go out again. Now the little triangle piece is just hanging down, and it works. It looks like crap tho and has to be fixed. I didnt do any window swap either.

Thanks for the help, its driven me crazy for months and I finally gave up and asked.
