Hi,
Would anyone happen to know how much the total power gain one would get using a combination purely bolt on parts all at once for a 99 ga se with a V6? I’m thinking headers, custom exhaust, cold air intake, under-drive pulley, aftermarket computer/pcm, and possibly a larger throttle body (I’ve read conflicting opinions about TB’s). I apologies if this has been answered before but I couldn’t quite find what I was looking for when I searched. Any advice is appreciated.

I have 3, 2 are 2.4 and one is 3.4. Tell me what search terms to use please because I couldn't find any discussions on this total combination.

I'm unsure of the exact threads myself, you'll probably have to research each part individually instead of looking for a thread with all the mentioned parts you wish to ad. My guess is anywhere from 30 to 70hp gain, depending on what manufacturer(s) you buy from, not to mention the pcm upgrade you may go for.
BUT,.. heed the warning the automatic transmission you have with that 3.4 will not take a whole lot of extra hp & torque. It'd be safe to keep it at no more than 75hp. Once you near an extra 100 your trans. will be begging for mercy.

I had a rough guess by adding up the estimated power of each part together but I was more curious about how each part effected each other. Sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Thanks for your input.

HP and TQ does not raise exponentialy like that when you add parts.

I think you misunderstood me. I mean you could put a good exhaust on your car and get 5hp or you could put a lager TB and get 5hp but put them on together and they may compliment each other and give you 12hp and not the 10hp you get if you just add them all together (hypothetical estimate). Thanks for the link.

I did understand you, and it still dont work that way.

I was under the influence that Borla exhaust gains were 7-10% HP increase, meaning that if you put that on after all your other mods you would gain the 7-10% increase from the current HP. Meaning that if your pushing 200hp after mods then put on Borla to gain lets say 10%, you would be pushing out 220 hp correct? ( Just random numbers by the way)

Many modifications may complement others and help them do their job more efficently.

if you have if you have full exhuast, ported intakes, and a larger TB, adding a set of 3500 heads will majorly increase your power than if you intalled them on an otherwise stock 3400...

visa versa

if you have 3500 heads on 3.4, then a TB upgrade would yeild even more results than stock heads

Example

Headers say 20hp increase
CAI says 10hp increase
Cat-back says 10hp increase
TB says 5hp increase

45hp gained

It dont work that way. You cant add up what each part says it will produce and think thats what you get.

many performance parts, especially related to intake and exhaust stroke do complement each other. these are random numbers but say 2 different makers produce a cold air intake and an exhaust system that claim 10hp to the flywheel each for some 200 hp engine. bolt those on and instead of 220hp you might have more like 225-230hp because they complement each other because when tested, other parts werent included. obviously many factors play into this like the dyno, weather, octane and such.

You can't predict exact numbers with any certainty. Your own setup will vary. Some mods "compliment" when combined... but many others are less than the sum of their individual gain. Again... it will depend.
