Double DIN Units

Im going to be getting a Pioneer double din dvd/nav from a friend for my 00 GAGT, but I found out its only a 1.5 din in my car, anyway I can make it fit? Thanks guys

with a little work you can make almost anything fit. Just take your time and have fun doing it

a double din will fit. a 1.5 din will have gaps top and/or bottom.

also there has been a kit released for a double din in our cars

They changed to double DIN in 2001 or 2002, the earlier 5th gen had a smaller area for the stereo.

Ahh come on guys I got the Pioneer AVIC D1 already, just need to know what kit to use to install it!

You may have to mold your own setup for it from fiberglass.

i may be mistaken but the factory radio is a double din radio is it not?? If it is then just try fittin it in there. you may need to make a bracket out of metal but is should be a close fit but it might just work.

The pre 01 GA's are 1.5 din, 01+ are double din.

It's a slight difference, but enough that the double din doesn't fit correctly if I'm not mistaken. Rob, about how much do you think would have to be shaved off the bezel to fit the screen correctly?

It's going to involve some cutting and possibly redoing the radio bezel.

Im getting a 01+ radio bezel so I hope I dont have to cut any of that.

I got it today at the junkyard, everything fits but all you need to do it move down your AC unit w. the knobs, how you do that, I havent found a way yet, probably make a bracket of some sort. It should work tho

Using that center assembly from an 01+ (including brackets) should be able to let you install it.
