if you want to test it clean it off and blow in it (end that connects to hose)....if air comes out the other side replace....air is only supposed to go one way...that is out of the engine

For the price, just replace it, it takes like 5 minutes and you have that much more piece of mind.

5 min to change it, ur kidding, i pull it out and put the other one in place.... 5 seconds...tops.
i did the seafoam thing, sucked a cup of it with the pcv tube, did everything like supposed to, and after the smoked went away, i didn't really see any difference in idle behavior. at all. its got 50K miles. i was expecting wonders from it. oh well.
but another question, after u put the seafoam in the oil, do you have to change the oil after a few hundred miles, or can i just let it in there, my next oil change is supposed to be in like 5 or six months.

5 or 6 months? you really dont do much driving do you? you do know its supposed to be every 3 thousand miles or every 3 months, whichever comes first man.

i always change mine 3000 - 3500 miles or so....ive heard people tell me that with newer engines and synthetic oil, itcan go as long as 5or 6 thousand miles....is that true? sounds like BS to me

I probably go around 5-7500 miles on conventional oil. I just change it when the car tells me to, that is what it is there for. 114K and no major engine problems.

the haynes manual for a grand am says every 30,000 miles not 3,000. not sure myself but thats what the book says.
