Possible RIP - The GA - 7/31/03 - 6/28/07

So I'm not sure if it'll be totaled out or not, but, my GA got nailed tonight. So me and someone who hasnt been on here in ages (xalliedyouthx) were sittin in the diner, and we saw a flash of light. We turn around and see a tow truck outside... I think, ok, no big deal, then I see my car parked crooked. I think, ok, I know I parked straight, I wasn't drinking today and I'm not tired. Go outside, and boom, the whole drivers side of my car banged up. The girl drivin the v-dub swerved to miss another car, spun out, and hit the side of my car, besides the 3 parking blocks she destroyed. Here's the accident pics, I'll take more in the morning. Mike, Sorry, your headlight's destroyed.

If the firewall or unibody is bent at all, the Insurance will total it.

But if they do, you can buy the car back and do repairs.

That actually looks fairly bad. Not to be negative, but I bet it's done for. Is that a dent on the roof? Either way, that front shot and the passenger side hood hinge makes the whole thing look twisted. I would push them to total it... will never be the same after that.

If the frame's good (which it hopefully is), it looks like both driver-side doors, both fenders, hood, maybe header panel, bumper impact bar and bumper cover. That's too bad, I know you had some plans in store for it, and hopefully it's not totaled and gets a nice overhaul.

Thanks for the support guys, I really appreciate it... And all you parts-grubbing guys out there, don't feel bad asking, I'd do the same :D But, Jay's for 1st dibs on the SLP Catback, and someone else has dibs on the lower grille.

Anyway, I got a feeling the frame did get tweaked. The B-Pillar I believe may be bowed from the accident, and the front end... I don't remember the washer fuild almost rubbing the frame.

the uni-body (happy mike?) is slightly popped out at the washer fluid area, not by much. I don't know if it'll definately be totaled, but honestly, even if it isnt, no matter what i do to it, it's going to be a PITA to sell down the road cause it was in an accident. If they don't total it, I think I'm just going to trade it in for a lower mileage 2-door ecotec. I spent a good amount of time taking things out last night so, we'll see.

And Seth, first time in years something like this happened, and the pancakes are pretty good.

You're out of luck Trish. It's a four door, the fronts don't fold forward and the rear is too wide (unless Rick put a two door set in).

Now I have a four door, live close enough for a drive by and leather is my favorite color....

depending upon the insurance company, is how you can go about getting parts. keystone is another cheaper company. though i thought id post up GM's list prices. most likely on something like that they would go with recycled parts from a yard or aftermarket.

roughly $6200 in damage according to the geico adjuster. borderline totalled, we'll see what the allstate adjuster says now. Got rid of the Rav 4 from Hertz, now I got a Ford Focus from Enterprise.... still don't like it but better than that Rav4 that couldnt get out of it's own way.

Dunno if they're going to replace or repair that one rim, about to call them.

It depends on your insurance how much the car is worth really. With USAA all my mods actually raise the value of the car for some reason. If I was to wreck it then it get totalled out I would get money back for the rims and whatnot. I was confused when they first said that on the phone. lol

A Month later update:

Got the car back yesterday, FINALLY, after fighting about the quality of the parts used. Rejected the aftermarket header panel, headlight, and front bumper they gave me. They broke the freakin aftermarket header panel before the car ever left the shop. Looking nice and clean now, but runs a little funky. Mainly at start, when it revs all the way up, it kinda hangs there for a second or two, definately longer than it should. Other than that it's fine, minus the hood weighing twice as much as factory.

So Last night I went to trade it in to grab a low mile Fusion Orange 4-Door GT w/ SCT Hood + Spoiler. Yea, they won't give me a dime for my car cause it's been in that bad of an accident.

So, now what should I do... I got a car that's not worth anything that I still owe a crapload on...

Welcome to my world, 3 rear enders where the only damage was enough to replace the rear bumper and paint it each time, then a friend borrowed the car once and it got hit by a suburban, not bad damage on that either. soo i feel like im driving a hooker ya know shes been tainted by others soo much. Looking at the morning pic the frame doesn't look bent, or at least too bad. My white '95 I bent the frame to hell and pushed the tires all the way back in the wheel wells. and the tranny busted and the boots ripped and the cv joints snapped. Mine was 4k of damage because the airbag deployed, I don't think yours would be that much.

Start bothering the insurance adjuster that wouldn't total it. Try going after them for depreciated loss. Key phrases: "entitled to pre-loss value"

Option 2: mysterious electrical fire.

Bottom line: get rid of the car, as much as that might suck.
