new gas filler routed in trunk.... You would have to imagine it will all be done up in the trunk so you wont see ugly stuff like the filler neck and all plus I will put a catch and drain for the filler that looks good ..just in case of a spill..!

theres a lot of people who have routed their gas filler neck to their trunk, just one of those things you do when you shave the entire car.
Looks good so far!
Id suggest some kind of line routed from just underneath the gas cap on the neck to outside the car through the body so you don't get fumes inside the car. A wall isn't going to protect you from it,gas finds leaks

... certainly ... personally, I would NEVER do that to a car I was planning on driving a bunch ... of you want to shave the gas door, simply modify the license plate or whatever and hide the filler behind it ... that way, it is STILL outside where it SHOULD be to avoid fumes!!

... did he say it was a show car?? ... I didn't say anything in terms of him not being able to drive it ... what *I* said had to do with being SAFE, end of story :)

I had a '59 VW that had the filler in the trunk, which was in the front of the car. I did smell gas fumes when I'd fill it up or on hot summer days. That's probably why VW put the filler outside the car in the next few years or so.
Personally I would have hidden it behind the rear license plate as Kelly suggested, not only for the safety reasons but also if it's raining you get the inside o the trunk wet and anything that's in it, but since it's a show car I doubt you'll be driving it in the rain.
Since it is in the trunk make sure you use a non-venting gas cap and as someone suggested put a vent tube beneath the filler cap somewhere and vent it through the floor and you should be fine.
All of the work you've done so far looks great. I really like the hood. :thumbup2:

Show car haters.... :-p
As far as the gas filler..I've always liked the idea of putting it behind a tail light. Its more work to do, but it looks cooler in the long run. However I did hear that it's not "safe". I guess should a spark occur from the tail light wiring it could cause a little problem.

Hood looks great.
Anyways, as far as the filler neck, I say behind the plate works best. Just put the plate on a hinge, and you're good to go.

I disagree and we SHOULD probably leave the rebuttals for another thread, but, ...

That hood looks different than the one in the first pic. The first one looks like an Evo style hood and this one looks diff. I like the Evo style one better.

Having a B.S. In industrial health and safety and 6 years as a bioengineer (OSHA) for the air force I can assure you it's a vapor. Fume refers to a volatized solid in air. These typically occur in your welding operations or anywhere that you may encounter molten metal. Vapor refers to a substance that is either solid or liquid at STP. As such it is ok to call particulates in air from welding either vapors or fumes, fumes usually being the more preferred term. LOL.

... pet peeve or not and whether you are correct or not (keeping in mind that I am not convinced you are and could no doubt research but honestly, there is no need), it really doesn't matter as my point is to keep the **INSERT WHATEVER NAME YOU WANT TO CALL IT HERE** from entering the passenger compartment :)

Hey I'm just trying to spread some knowledge. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&defl=en&q=define:fume&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title Every definition here refers to solids in air.

... further research also results in documentation with instances whereby gasoline companies themselves refer to "gasoline fumes" ... but to be fair, they also refer to "gasoline vapors" as well ... anyway, to lessen any further damage to the original poster's thread, I concede to your definition and will not debate it further :)
