I read on this site that I could use a honda civic cold air intake on my grand am. Does that mean that I can just go to pepboys and buy a honda civic cai and but it on my car with out any problems.

I had one on my '01 GT. I can't remember exactly how I did it but you will have to cut the pipe. All the pieces/ material should be there & the bends in the piping should be of the right angles but if I remember correctly, one of the pipes on the civic kit is too long. (which is why I had to cut)
I used a civic kit on my 300M also. worked like a charm. (again, with a little cutting) but I did it on this car to see if it'd improve my gas mileage a bit. Didn't really do anything for me so I'm considering taking this one off. (This ones not really the kind of car for that sort of thing imo)

Not really any year but it doesn't have to be a Civic CAI either. You just need any CAI with the right bends/sections you need--so you can cut it in a place or two (or three) and get the right bends you need to make your own CAI out of it.
There is likely a particular year/model Civic CAI that works well for your car (don't know what that would be though sorry) but it doesn't limit you to just htat CAI. You just need to find one that has the right bends and lengths so you can cut it and use it on your car.

this was the best mod i ever did, and as far as feeling went i think it gave me my biggest gains out of anything.
you need a certain model civic intake, i think 96-98 civic, i dont remember what model but it only has one 90 degree bend in it. thats the one you want. just cut out the tab behind the battery for it to sit through and connect it with a 3" to 3" pvc adapter.

Is that the best fit civic intake or is there better? Does anyone have a civic cai in their v6 ga that fits real good with little to no problems?

its actually a civic short ram intake, but is a CAI for the 3400. kinda strange i guess if you think about it.
i didnt shorten the tube at all. i used a 90* rubber coupler from home depot, and then put the straight end into the coupler, and then the filter went onto curved end inside the fender well.
sometimes the tube has a breather connection, if it does that needs to be filled. you can do that by getting a bolt thats about the size of the openeing and coating it with silicone then letting it dry.
and yes, 94-98 civic i think it was. pep boys does have it in stock usually, or you can get it off ebay for pretty cheap.

Hey James, sorry about the wait. Here's exactly what I used. It's sold as the '00-'04 (I think) civic intake or the '92 - '96 prelude intake.
See that long pipe w/ the 90 degree bend? That's pretty much all you'll need. I used the other pipe for the little extra on the throttle body end. And Whatever you do, if you do buy one off Ebay do not use those godforsaken pos filters that come with them!
They can be had pretty cheap on Ebay, which is where I bought both of mine.
