This may sound dumb but I was just reading another post about someone port and pollishing their maf. what does port and pollishing mean? I hear it alot and it might help if I knew what it ment.

porting is basically just making the opening larger for increased flow... and polishing it makes smoother flow though the part... like how water flows smoother over glass then it does rocks. and porting your MAF wont really make a difference cause if you wreck a wire inside your f**ked

There are varied opinions if porting your MAF actually accomplishing anything but the only one who's opinion matter is mine ... HAHAHA ... no, it is your own :) ... give it a try, just be very careful of the 'wire' ... for me, it did make a difference at higher RPMs :)

... something Shawn wrote up a while ago :)

I've got mine out of the car ATM just polishing the outside..from the looks of the baffle I don't see it really making that much resistance personally unless your getting ALOT of air pulled or pushed in there, but as kelly said, it's all opinion.

Looks like a good guide =D

Most people will use a dremel to port and polish things. Just make sure you clean it out before using the part on your car, a good day can be ruined by metal flakes floating around your engine.

^ :agree:

And besides porting and polishing, you will find a dremel a fantastic investment. I use mine nearly every day :)

port and polishing can go for your Exhaust manifold(mainly porting) also your intake manifold. Then your cylinders, basically you will be boring them but then a polish is done.

It can vary in cost, from low for the smaller stuff to very costly for a GOOD machine shop to do the work.

I think the cylinders would be in a different category than p&p, more along the lines of bore/hone depending on the extent that you do it. I say it's a different group because you usually want to re-ring it at the least, whereas with p&p you don't really have to buy new parts. I believe the porting is more on the heads and intake manifold than the exhaust manifold. For gains with the exhaust you might as well get a set of headers IMO, it'll probably improve it more than a p&p job.
