new GAGT in the crew!

Got me one last week, 50k miles on it, 2001, pristine condition, white. I'll post pics of her up sometime when i get the ability to. anyhow, dropping in to say hi to everyone and look forward to learning more about these cars from everyone. I took her for a ride, and was instantlly hooked to her. So i bought her on up. No LIM problems yet, and yea, i knew about the LIM b4 i got her, talked to the dealer who was shocked i knew about it, and was reassured its covered under warranty if it goes. but alas. top of the morning to everone, im about to take her out for a spin ^.^

Thanks bro, I look forward to posting up piucs of her, although right now shes just pure stock GT so you know how that looks. I'm currentlly looking into body kits, but dont know where to go for a smooth looking kit. Im debating though, (and this may be a little off topic) I know the ram air system is highly debated as accurate, so I am debating on doing a CAI to her instead of a kit at first, and then following through with a nice ram air hood that is functionable, just because I love how they look on these cars.

I recentlly jsut moved off of a 2003 SVT focus, didnt like its performance, and torque steer.....not to mention the upgrades to get that 2.0 running how i want is not within my money league, but with a 3400 its a little more within range. Not to mention I finally got rid of the Ford. I'm not a Ford fan, everyone i had has had issues.

With the SVT the car was a lemon, I've been driving stick since i was 11 (I'm 23 now) and the thing kept going through clutches. After some research I discovered Ford made a big no no running the getrag in their focuses, as the springs on the clutch and pressure plates are faulty and cause premature wear! >.< The http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_censored.gifers would not reimburse me money, and this info came right out of Ford Engineering (I know people in the Dearborn , Michigan research center). Anyhow, just feels good to have one of these as the power rang eon these cars is a bit better (stock wise they push 175 horse and 205 pds/ft trq, over the SVTs 165 hp and 154 pd/ft trq)....

What are the best suggested beginning upgrades for these cars? I'm really interested in performance upgrades before body upgrades, but thats me. I'm sorry that lil bonus question isnt in the right area of forums, as well, but as a beginner with these cars, I'm posting my noob-esqu question in the proper area me thinks ^.^

Well in my opinion the only kit that looks decent is the AED kit and unless you get it used it costs way too much. Id say start with the cold air intake and supporting mods. Unless you custom fab something, the ram air hoods arent functional. And with a CAI you wont need it to be because the CAI is better. Id say CAI, exhaust, MSD wires, reprogrammed PCM would be a good start.

yea i jsut went and bought an inbox k&n filter. she sounds a lil better. I'll go check out that site to find some good upgrades. anyone on here ever try custom fabbing an intake manifold to fit a GTP S/C? I'm thinking about doing it but if somone already has, it would be nice to talk with them.

If you thought it'd cost alot to get the 2.0 in that SVT going, then you don't want to know how much it'd cost to get the GTP s/c to work with the 3400. If you want a super charger, check in the for sale area, I know a s/c is for sale there.

yea, the lil 2.0 was a bitch in my old svt to get going here and there. she was a nice whip, but once more, not what i wanted long run.

yea, ima try and get some pics of her tonight, i gotta go in to work from 6p-cl, which is like 2a but a few friends of mine are throwing a party, so that means somone there will hav a cam i can snap a few pics with. I think my next upgrade will be the 4 door complete kit from rksport, thats the best kit i've seen for our cars so far.....plus no one around here in det has one that i have seen, so i'll get those originality points ^.^
