I got a used 97 GA with the world's sloppiest shifter. It makes my Colorado shifter feel like a performance shifter off a BMW or somehting of that caliber. Know anywhere to get a decent aftermarket shifter that is a bit tighter or am I stuck with this?

B & M short shifter

maybe the linkage needs replaced...if its real loose....could be the shift forks in the tranny too, if the car was driven hard

I know the cables just got replaced because they broke. That is the linkage correct? Any idea on a model number, as I can't find one that fits a 1997?

They don't make one for a 96-98, that's why. :(

So there is no aftermarket for the GA?

The only B&M shifters are for the 01+ 5-speeds.

Otherwise, Mantapart is the only other option, but is $400 and meant for racing.

If I recall Largefish said something about an F-Body short throw shifter fitting in his GA. Im positive that's what it was but I am not sure, also I am not sure which thread it was either. I know it was a B&M Short Throw something...

No. Actually it's a shorted piece of cable linkage on the trans side. (A guy that used the screen name F-bod made them) It will shorten the throw, but won't help the feel if everything else makes it sloppy.

It's gotten better eht last few days after driving it. The car for a while and the more it drives the better it gets. I don't understand it though. Shortening the shifter would be nice too. It is a longer throw.\

You have a link tot he thread? Maybe I could make my own.

^There you go.

Keep in mind the linkage on his Getrag 5-speed differs from that on your Isuzu.

Thanks, don't know much about these cars yet. Guess I should find my linkage and see what can be done. If it was as short as my Colorado i would be happy.

Yea, take a peek under the hood. The linkage attachment point is just under/forward of the brake master cylinder. Check your shift cables while you're there... if the boots around them are all mangled, then the shifter slop wouldn't surprise me.
