I have a sony xplod HU and the lights all dim on it and fade away. but when i push it hard into the connection the lights come back on until they dim and go away again. I have to assume that it isnt connecting correctly. This has just started happening recently. The sound and buttons all still work its just the screen that fades completly away. I have had the Hu since november. Any suggestions?
Thanks

well this is one of many reasons why i dont like sony.

try removing the faceplate and cleaning the contacts with rubbing alcohol. do both the face part and the unit itselfs connector. those tend to get dirty and start to make a bad connection.

if cleaning it doesn't help. Just take it back, you haven't had it for a year so you should still have warrenty.

where did you buy it? most of the big stores keep your info on file for a couple of years. its worth a shot. next time dont get sony.

i was checking the HU tonight and i found out when i push the Hu inward it will light up so i have to believe that connector thats attached to the cd player not the faceplate is loose because i can wiggle it around. So i dont think its an installation problem
Looks like its time for a new cd player. Just not Sony

when you press any other button, does it light up? because there are options for the dim feature... ( i have the same HU,, and im pretty happy with it, sounds great with the stock monsoon, many options)

nope. Just an update. I went to circuit city and we tried my faceplate on the same radio they have on the wall to play with and it still didnt light up. So they told me to contact Sony and get a replacement since it has been under a year
