If my memory serves me correctly. YOU HAVE TO WEAR PANTS to race. And in some cases......Tim, John you need a helmet.

Just a little reminder for yall that will be racing.

And for anyone who wants to sleep at all when at the track, get Little john when its nap time. He makes a great safeguard to NOT get messed with while napping.

Ahh yes the memories of 05.

Also:
1. Roll you windows up.
2. Do not have your A/C on.
3. Be at your car when your lane is called.

5. Drive AROUND the water puddle in front of the starting area, unless you have a RWD and WILL warm up your tires before the run.
6. Wear sunscreen.

Well, the NHRA rules say you have to have pants and they're usually pretty stiff on that (they could lose their accreditation otherwise).

Count yourself lucky they didn't bug you last year but plan to at least have a pair of pants in the car just in case.

is this like a huge drag day w/ tons of cars & minimal runs, or is there not gonna be a lot of us and we'll have lots of runs or what? And what the http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_censored.gif are pants gonna do? I'm hoping to run mid - high 14's ... not 5 secs and i'm in a car

Saturday is usually a pretty busy day at the track, although it only starts picking up real good after lunch. Considering we'll have our own staging lanes we should be able to pack quite a few runs in but don't expect to run 25 times. I think the usual is between 4-8 runs for the day.

Pants may help if the 7-second top-fuel dragster you're running against loses control. Especially while you're driving through the fireball :D

If you're willing to leave late you can get more but weekends are busy at the track.

Besides your car will be begging for a break after 7-8 runs. Your best runs will be the first ones anyway (much cooler air in the mountains in the morning), unless you're really tuning it between runs.

11. make sure you are near a bathroom after you eat the fries. they'll go right through you

From this quote im guessing there arent many GAs running slicks at the track then?

13. Dont try to stage the car on the rear wheels. (thats funny)

YEah I'm required a little more than a helmet. Boots, leather pants, leather jacket and gloves... lol

That is why I most likely won't be running at the track unless RJ can pull some strings for me.

Still want to drive around and back into the waterbox so the front tires don't bring water to the starting line. The only time you'd just roll through the box is when you're doing a burn out there they let you roll out of it.

I beg to differ, I gained a full tenth and 1mph for three runs straight after I pulled out the headlight.

:bs:

Me, Kelly & John all gain 1/10 by removing the headlamp. :shake: Removing the blocking plate on my SC/T hood with the WAI directly under the opening had no effect, however. ;)

ok ok ok....i always thought not alot of air went cuz the filter is down in the fender next to the wheel.

Actually if you remove the light most the air goes into the fender. IIRC you can see the filter when you remove the light.

i must have mis understood. maybe it was the foglight....someone wanted to remove their foglight to get better air...:idunno:

They make you wear pants but spectators can stand 10' from the starting line...go figure

TA^Guy

Really? Where do they do that?

GregFarz78
07-08-2007, 07:26 PM
Last year at the track we were standing very close to the cars at the starting line, I never saw a track allow you to stand that close before

99GrandAMSE
07-08-2007, 07:28 PM
... down at the corner of the building ... yeah, the track allowing that always seemed kind of strange to me too but they probably consider it simply an area for 'crew' to watch and don't really 'police it' making sure only the 'crew' are there ... hell, who knows, I like it there so I am not complaining

I liked it too I'll bring my camera this year and get some nice up-close pictures

Well, the fact that it's behind the starting line and enclosed in concrete barriers are probably what makes it compliant for insurance and NHRA purposes.

14. For those of you that lower tire pressure (like me)... There is free air for your tires by the garage near the food stand. I have a digital pressure gauge if you care to borrow while we're waiting in the staging lanes.
15. Disregard any food advice from Katie. :P The fries are greasy and delicious. You won't have to poop. And Pat's cheesesteaks are fatty and delicious (you aren't supposed to analyze each piece for fat content)

I consistently get more runs at LVD than any other drag strip on the east coast. Quit yer bitching.

More than 14 in 2005.

That's plenty to achieve your best run after practicing launch, adjusting tire pressure, etc. In other words, if you don't get faster after 6-7 runs, you're not going to anyway.

x2. Each and every year, I actually stopped racing to rest and socialize.

U not liking Pat's cheese steaks is a major reason why people shouldn't be talking eating advice from you. ;) Leave that for the fat kids. Anyone who wants to eat good in Albany follow Matt, Seth, and I.
