95 Grand am

144,100 miles
auto tranny
no dummy lights

My dash starts rattling while i drive and its driving me crazy. It seems like then i hold the fold down cup holder above the glovebox it stops. is there anyway of stopping the rattling. I have tried it with the glove box closed and open and also the cup holder open and closed and its the same.
Any suggestions. The dasg and around the glovebox are screwed on tight

The dash on the 1992-1995 is a rattle-box. Mine rattles like hell too. Either turn up the radio, or remove the entire dash and stick rubber all over the parts where it would meet other panels, metal...etc.

I have a 95 grand am and its got the same problem, ive learned to tune it out or turn up the radio. The suggestion of taking the dash apart and adding rubber is good although just going through and tightening all the screws in the dash may help also. Or just have a passenger hold the dash steady.

um....
there's two bolts on the top of your dash, one on the left...one on the right....mine on the right was loose and it was doing the same thing....tightened it....and now its sooo quite that it doesnt even seem like im driving...kinda got use to the noise

Edit:you may need a washer to ensure that it stays tightened,i did

I had the same problem, except, mine was related to the bolts on both sides of the dash. I never figured it out, so what I did was take some Thermwell Duct insulation, and applied it every where UNDER the dash, that would meet the dash. It's made it 10x more quiet, and now I'm using the Thermwell Duct insulation that I had left over as sound dampening and heat dampening material all over the floors and my trunk. :) Cheapest, most cost-effective stuff ever!
