I don't own a buffer, and would like to remove some scratches and light swirls form my car.
I usually wash and wax (turtle carnauba wax ) my car. However, the swirls and small scratches remain. Any suggestion on what I can do by hand to really clean up these scratches and swirls once and for all.
I also have a light turtle wax rubbing compound

ScratchX, it'll take a long time to do if you have alot and it'll be a PITA, but it's done by hand instead of a buffer. Wax won't remove imperfections, you have to use that rubbing compound or a similar product. I suggest you read up in this section and something like this: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/inf-polishing.html. The rest of the site is good too, it gives you tips and has most or all of the basic stuff you'll need. Good luck.

Definately go for the scratch x. You will have to actually work it into the paint though, it's not an apply, wait, wipe off.

I wouldnt even bother trying to do it by hand. It would take months to do an entire car by hand.

If you are really seriously up to it by hand, might want to look into something on this list:

Is the Mothers Sratch Remover better or worse than the Meg's Sratch-X, I was just wondering if Mothers would do the same job as Sratch-X??

IMO yes
Either product you have to use correctly to even work. Its not a wipe on wipe off product.

THANKS that website is pretty good. I am going to try one of the products and let you guys know how it comes out. Mayb this weekend f I get the chance. My car has been getting alot of swirls and light scratches lately, not sure why. I wax it every 2 months or so. Hopefully this polish will help remove some of them

Its hard to keep a DD swirl/mar free, but you can take a few steps to reduce it...
Washing/drying is usually a pretty good culprit of marring if done improperly.
