Mine is under the bumper cover and looks like a lunch box.

Also to add on to my last question is it better for my car if I take it off or leave it on?

The intake will be noisier and you might suck water up into the engine if you go through deep water.

In my opinion, the car won't perform any better or worse with it off.

wouldnt you have to be carefull about driving through big puddles if you have a cai also? and this might be a dumb statement but I cant tell how taking off the resonator will make the difference of sucking up water. can someone let me know?

If you have a cai then I'm not sure if it would make a difference, you can fix it with a filter sock or just avoid any puddles. The resonator is probably more for if you have the stock airbox in or if you are like me and have a cold air box or wai, as the resonator directs air to it and the bends keep water from entering.

sorry 2 more questions. what is a filter sock and how does the resonator come off? does it just pop off or does it need to be cut off?

Filter socks are basically covers to keep some water out of the filter. I believe the resonator is held on with two or three bolts or speed clips. I forgot to look when I replaced my bumper, but for my application I'm keeping it in to direct a bit of air into my filter and to keep water out. You can cut it if you want to, but I'd rather keep it intact in case you return to stock to sell.
