Ok... here is the story... first of all I made a mistake of lending my car to a friend... the last time I did this on a previous car, I had a blown Trans... He calls me and says your car won't start... I said your probably out of gas, go to the gas station and buy a container and put gas in the car... he does this, but he leaves the lights and flashers on while doing this and the battery goes dead. He put's the gas in and has another friend come and jump him... they switch the positive and negative cables and fry the first set of cables... then they get another set.. and charge the battery. The car still won't start. So finally I get there (I was djing on a boat and had no way of getting there previous)... The car is cranking but it sounded like the fuel pump was dead... I sit there for a bit and think... I notice I am on a upwards hill and think, maybe the fuel is not getting to the pump... so I rock the car and sure enough it starts up... MeanwhileI notice radio is dead... yesterday I checked all fueses... they are fine... I notice my xm receiver wouldnt go on also which is attached to the positive cable on my stock radio... yep the fuse is blown there... i hook it up fueseless and it powers on... leading me to believe that the radio is blown... any ideas on fixing it or am I SOL?

One idiot borrowed your car, and it wouldn't start.
He called another idiot and the two of them tried to jump-start the car but instead hooked-up the jumper cables wrong.
After assorted hillarity, you have discovered a blown fuse and a dead electrical component (the stock radio?).
LOTS of electronic stuff is permanently damaged by reversal of voltage, if the key is 'on' and allows power to flow.
I'm surprised the car's computer survived.
In any case, I would say the pair of idiots, one of whom took control of your car for his own benefit, and both of whom wrongly performed a jump-start, owe you a replacement (used) radio.
They would owe you a new computer IMO if they had fried that.
Good luck,

I agree with what Rick said, except that for their stupidity, it shouldn't be a used radio for replacement, it should be a brand new one. Tell him the computer is fried, and have them foot the cost for a modified PCM if you want to.
Also, if he blew the tranny on the other car he borrowed, why'd you let him borrow your current car?

Man I'd never let any of my friends drive my car.

Yeah, it sucks... im installing a new radio tonight, to hold me over, but I'll be looking for another stock one, since I'm selling the car anyways really soon.
it's not the same guy that blew the trans

They do say if you jump a car wrong you have a HUGE risk of frying the radio as it says in the manual, which I think exactly happend in your case. New radio starts at over $400 and used $250 and then you need the VIN transferred on the BCM. $75-100.

Usually when I jumpstart anything, I always pull the fuse for the radio.
Wow, if I knew people that stupid, I certainly wouldn't let them borrow my car.
