weird rpms

so im driving to see the transformers (F'N KICKASS BTW, loved it sooo much) and my car starts to idle at 1400 rpms at stops. usually it idles at 600rpm. i had my ac on since it was about 95 out today. i pull up to the parking spot and move it into park and it goes from the 1400 to about 2700. so i turn my car off then start it again and it is sitting at 600 rpm, normal for me. So i waited long enough to see the movie couldnt wait any longer to worry about the car. i come back out and drive to a wawa to check the fluid levels and what not. the way it is riding fine. Oil level fine, antifreeze fine. i pull out and drive home and it doesnt give me any problems. Then i noticed something that i neve really felt before, as i turn the ac off i feel a significant power gain. my first car was like this but that was a 4 banger, turning the ac off was like hitting NOS. I never had this happen to me in my car or my second car which was a 6 banger. Any ideas on what it could be, and the enginge temp was in normal range the whole time to the movie and home from the movie.

Does your idle jump around alot or is it more dependent on what you do (shifting into park, a/c, etc)? If it jumps around alot then you probably have a vacuum leak. I'm guessing you don't have any codes thrown or you would have mentioned that. How does it start cold and hot, any long starts that may or may not catch?

it usually doesnt jump around, its never done it before, ac on or off. no codes were thrown and this morning i just drove 30 miles to work in stop go traffic on teh highway and i had no problems.

update i had to drop off a mail for the post office while at work today, its about an 8 mile drive. i was messing with the A/C and all and stoping and going and nothing was happening.
