I bought a pair of infinity referance 6x9s for my 2000 grand am se. I have a jvc kd-g820 and after hooking up one 6x9 it worked, but when i hooked up both all the sound in my car cut out. The factory front speakers dont produce sound nor the new rear. I pulled the deck and use a battery and cable and check the speaker connections and got all the speakers to pop. So i am stumped, ne one got an idea?

Does the headunit power up? Try hooking up a single speaker to all the outputs on the headunit.

I agree try what the post says above, also if u have or can borrow an ohm meter check each speaker to see if they read, the way u checked ur speakers and made them pop isnt very smart, good way to fry them. If u check them with an ohm meter and they all read then it narrows it down to at least the deck.

ya the head unit works fine and all the speakers are fine. From want i have been researching the stock wiring in my car might not be able to handle this after markets without an amp. I have the delco system.

Why would the wiring be insufficient for those speakers? There are many people who run very high end, powerful speakers on stock wiring in these cars, so your car shouldn't be an exception. Unless you have the premium system, which could get confusing with two speaker hook-ups in back, it should work. It sounds like you have a ground wire that may have had insulation tore off it. Follow your ground wire from the speakers forward, and see if any bare wire is showing.

yea ur stock wires should work for that year grand am since they do make a wiring harness where u dont have to relocate ur factory radio and u dont have the monsoon. its not like u need huge wire since u got after market speakers.
