I know I posted this in the engine specific 3100 forum but since it doesn't get much love anymore I had to post here...
I had the top end of my 3100 changed to a 3400 (well, the intake manifolds anyway). I feel the extra power but I also feel a little shuddering sometimes off the line. What could be causing it? Should I disconnect the ECU to get the car to relearn the acceleration timing. Also....I may have a gasket issue. The guy that got the intake from me said it came from an old minivan but it says "3400" on the UIM. Thinking its some anomaly I've come across, when i took the parts to another guy, I told him that it came from an older minivan and told him to get the gaskets for a 3400 engine between 96 and 99. But he informs me later that he had to tap the EGR on the manifold, which means it had to be a 99+ manifold. So I'm wondering how much can go wrong in the event that an older model gasket is mated with a newer intake?
