I have been planning out a fenderwell CAI for my '95 and I was wondering what types of stuff can I use to make it. I work at Menards, which is a hardware store to those of you who don't know and I was walking down the ductwork Aisle when I saw some bendy kinda skinnier ductwork. that got me thinking about if it was possible to make a CAI out of it? Do you think it would work good? I am just wondering what types of piing people have used to make their CAI's really. You input would be greatly appreciated.

Dryer hoses were used with some drag cars in the 80s, because it can get the hard bends and is light. You could use some smaller metal straight ducting for most of it, if you can find some small enough for this application (something like 58mm wide).

I've personally seen people with PVC tubing, carbon fibre, exhaust piping, and one person with aluminum sheets rolled up and taped with duct tape (was a quick fix at a drag strip after some person backed into his car).

I'd pass on the hardware store creations. You can get Mandrel U-bends for under $20 each from Summitracing.com
You can cut them with an angle grinder with cutoff wheel, or a dremel with lots of cutoff wheels.
Throw in some silicone couplers (and clamps), a K&N cone, and you've got a homebrew intake as good as the best ones out there.

Tubing, 90's and couplers can be found on ebay. You can get a kit for another car and add what you need to fit yours.
