My monsoon will not turn off. When I start the car, it turns on automatically. My only other option is the mute button on the steering wheel. Is it something I can fix? .

Have you tried pushing the volume button in?

Yes, several times and nothing works. Its must be broken, I don't think its normal to automaticly turn on when you start the car.
I do have an extra moonson that came out of our 2000 SE. that we took out to put in a after market audio system. That car was written off and that’s why we have the new 2000 GT1. My daughter likes the audio control on the steering and the system sounds great. So we are going to leave it for a month and see how it goes before putting in the after market system we have.
I going to pull apart the extra moonson and see if the on & off has a circuit that can be pulled out. It’s a long shot.

The other doesn’t have a cd player only a cassette. That’s why we put an after market CD player in the other GA SE.

The only reason we have not put in the after market player in the GT , because my daughter likes the radio control on the steering wheel. I understand if you put the after market unit its not compatible with the steering wheel controls.

Monsoon headunit that dosen't have a CD? odd.....

Their are interfaces that will retain factory steering wheel controls. Check Out PAC. I believe the part number is SWIX

Also Best buy has them for i believe right around the 100$ range. I have one in my car hooked up to the aftermarket cd player and it works like a champ with the steering wheel controls.
Hope this helps.

Then its probably not going to work if you trying to swap the Non monsoon headunit with the monsoon unit.
