OK, I have taken out the head gaskets on the 2nd 3100 in my 97. This time it cooked the block. Amazing how long they acctually will run with no coolant in them LMAO. Now, I need some pointers on swapping a 3400 or a 3800 into my GA.
Like, what's easiest?
Will they bolt to the transmission?
and will my 3100 ECM work or do I need that with the engine as well?
Fuel Rail Pressure the same, ie need to change pump or no?

I will be hopefully getting things together before fall, and doing it this fall/ winter. Just had the transmission rebuilt, and new tires, brakes etc.

Ohh, and the engine died the DAY we paid her off, can you belive that.

97 is OBD II right? if so, a 3400 would be a damn near bolt-in

Since you have OBD II, you can swap in any newer engine without too much difficulty on OBD compatability.

+1 for the 3400 swap. Otherwise, another 3100.
