I got a set of 99+ AED Tails really cheap off Mike (ga5speed02) After alot of cutting and fiberglassing I made them fit my 94. There not physically on the car yet but they are just about done and ready for paint. I'm very happy with the out come.

^ well you would have a few problems. One there not on the car so you would end up with some GT tails. Two, even if you knew my adress you would never find my car. Three, if I find someone tampering with my car they should expect shots too be fired in their direction. :D

Thats for all the compliments guys.

Better put lock nuts on them things  interesting to see how you did this... any tips? since you'd be the first one with your gen to have these on your car even though they are modified.

Although they look similar to AED's tails, or what I think AED's tails will look like for my car, they are really nothing alike. Mine are molded to the outer part of the tail light the part that would normally be the Lens. So I still have to use the back part of the light. My light are 2 pieces and I'm assuming AED's will be one piece. My lights are alos mostly fiberglass, where I think AED's are injection molded plastic? Not positive on that.

Heres a few shots of how they looked along different stages of the build.

no not really to bad. probably way more then AED's will weigh. But as far as stock Vs mine I don't think there that bad. Theres alot of fiberglass added in but I also did alot of cutting.

YEVNTRY
07-18-2007, 09:34 PM
yeah, thats the way to do it tho, make them heavy and strong or else there going to crack on you!

Like I was saying before. The actually AED part of the light was molded into the Lens or front portion of a stock GT tail light. So now you can take that piece and connect it up with a stock back housing of the GT tail light. So im pretty much using the stock set up as far as bolting it to the car. I just had to cut up the back housing a tad to make everything fit right, but the frame and bolt locations are still untouched and intact. I figured if I used a stock tail light as a "frame" It would line up perfectly with the body just like the stock tails do.

A few pics to help explain more. I love pics.

By that statement I don't think you've done much, if any, body work. Fiberglass, yes you can layer it thick. But fiberglass doesn't usually weigh much. Body filler gets heavy quick, but if you pile that on you'll end up with cracks in no time.

YEVNTRY
07-20-2007, 02:57 AM
i guess maybe i used the wrong words but you said it your self you can layer fiberglass thick and if u do that its going to have some weight to it and when it comes to making one off parts i would rather add those extra layers for strength, and i guess i could go on to tell that i have done body work witch is alot different then working with fiberglass and the making of custom parts, but i guess u already know that since my comment made me appear dumb and clueless to YOUR auto body world !!!!!!

Im sure you could have though of it. I have seen a few posts where people want to know if they can get 5th gen taillight to fit on a 4th gen. I basically did that only with an aftermarket set of tails.

Well sorry but your statement did make you appear to know very little on what you were talking about.

The weight of something isn't always going to make it stronger. It's the materials used, how they are used, and how the prep work is. For example his us of chopped fiberglass was great because it adds density and allows it to be layed without creasing, sanded and layed if need be. Unlike fiberglass matts that would could peel back, ect.

Big Joe

Took some pics of them on the car today. The gaps aren't perfect because I removed the weather stripping from the back of the tail light for the time being until I can get some new stripping for it. I also did not bolt them down they were just placed there for picture purposes. The line up really well. Cant wait to actually get them painted and on the car for good.

Just my $.02 here Joe, but if you are going to pay to have someone do them professionally I would save a little bit longer and have them shoot the entire car. No point of wasting good coin for a temp solution.

none taken. its more satisfing knowing that i have a set of lights that fit! oh and work. oh and both lenses are exact opposits and look like they should. the vaccume :roll2: made clear covers didnt fit or match right. if they are equal molds why where they different :???: also every time i had to change a reverse bulb i had to break the silly-cone and remove the light. seal the new light then reseal the cover. what a waste. no one thought of servesing these before hand.

I really put in a ton of work the last 2 months so I think Ill be taking it easy the rest of the summer.
