I must say pricing is right on target.

Is it 100% carbon fiber, or Carbon fiber over a fiberglass frame?

Not that I'd mind either one, but I'm sure you'll get asked it anyhow. :D

The wave pattern is 2 by 2 twill, 7.2 OZ aircraft grade carbon fiber with special resin support structure. The complete hood weighs 17-18 lbs

thanks buddy. i knew it was kinda heavy. I have the SD ram air hood and its a lot lighter than stock. but i guess not as light as the carbon fiber one.

Really? I didn't realize they were that heavy. I picked up an extra to make my own custom hood with & it didn't seem that heavy. Did you actually weigh one yourself? All I remeber is picking it up & expected it to be somewhat heavy & I was supprised how light it seemed to me.

If I'm not mistaken, Carbon fiber hoods are made with fiber glass for the contours. You can't mold carbon fiber by itself it needs the fiber glass to be molded.

ICK... I hate when people put carbon fiber hoods on cars then the hood doesn't match the color of the car... or are they paintable?

They can be painted, but why would you want to paint a carbon fiber hood? Why not purchase a cheeper fiberglass hood then?
The CF hood is a stock style hood, painting it would look like a factory hood. If your going to paint it might as well keep the stock one on there and throw away the spare tire to save some weight.

On that note it's funny how history has a way of repeating it's self.
In the '70s many car maufactuers built performance machines with flat black hoods to resemble their racing heritage.
Today showing off a light weight carbon fiber hood is showing a racing 'image' much like the flat black hoods of yester year.

i like the looks of it. price isn't that bad either. hey bloodreddimond, it should look good on a red car. i have a friend that has one of the new eclipses and his is red with a carbon fiber hood. it looks pretty good. someone also said they thought it would look good on a silver one. if you buy it post some pics. my girlfriend has a silver grand am and i think it would look pretty good too. but i'll let you experiment with it and see if i like it:D. ive considered buying one for my maroon truck, but im going to put a functional ram air on it instead.
