I was finaly able to do a full paint correction on my good buddy’s 1999 GAGT. Me and Tim had talked about it in the past but since he lives 3+ hours away it took us almost a year to finaly setup a weekend to do it. It needed it badly, definitely beyond saving but well worth trying, we think it came out great considering what we started with.

Wash with foam gun and megs goldclass
Clay with an old mothers claybar I had, didn’t wanna waiste a new one on this, it was THAT bad. VHT and rubber all the way down the sides from the track and all the other surfaces where loaded with some seriously bad contaminants.
Rotary with edge2K 6” pads, optimum compound at 1500-2400 rpm
Porter Cable with Danase 5” CCS polishing pads and LC 4” polishing spot pads, megs #80 speed 6 the whole way.
Megs #26 high tech yellow wax

It was rough going. It took close to 15 hours but we did it over the course of 2 days, was nice for a change not to have to bust it out in one day like i ussually have to.

These 2 pics are my favorite, really shows what swirl marks and imperfections make the paint look like. Makes black look grey.

Oh he will!! I made him very conscience of his paint and he now understands how fragile it really is.

Simply amazing, dude. I too wish you weren't so far away; I'd have you do my car(its dark green). I compounded the roof a little bit when I bought the car(it looked like someone dried the roof with steel wool!) but now the whole thing is swirl marks.

I really wish i could do alot more members cars and i would in a heart beat. There has been 4 people already who set up a date with me and then at the last minute cancelled or didnt show. Really frustrating when you plan a whole day or whole weekend and they dont show or cancel.

I still offer it though, just buy me beer and food and you get a reconditioned paint job :)

Sitting there and watching some one do the work you will only learn about 5% of what is being done. Taking a turn (especially with some one there who can correct what your doing, or what you've done) you will retain considerably more.
Then again, I can just picture Coupe with a look of pain and agony on his face as he reluctantly passes the tools over.

I always like teaching people how to use the machines, the products and teach the process and why we have to do each thing. I kinda didnt show Tim much with his GA and i should have. I just knew how much time it was gonna take becuase of the severity of his paint so i went full bore at it and didnt stop to teach him much.

After spending a day or weekend with me you will never look at your paint the same way again
