View Full Version : Next Maritimes Meet?
JMILLS

I was wondering if we all wanted to plan another Maritimes meet for sometime in the coming months. If we could start working on some dates and a location then everyone could try and get the time off, etc.

Jason, I was aboot to call you about that, Karen & I were discussing it this weekend. :)
JMILLS

Ya, I'm anxious to get away again already, lol. And the Maritimes meets are always so relaxing. I'm actually thinking I may try and schedule a few extra days around whenever the meet is.

Sounds like a plan. :)

... well, we could have a BBQ at my place (or Mom's place as it has a bigger parking lot and of course, my Mom who is a great cook!!! :D) ... we could hit a few highlights around here like Peggy's Cove (again) and maybe the Titanic Grave Site (for Beth :D) ... we also have a pretty cool Go-Kart Track but I haven't been there so I don't know how it compares to Moncton; although, it is about the same size IIRC ... room in the backyard for a tent and of course, my basement has room enough for an air mattress (right Shawn  :D) ... anyway, lots of options unless there are better thoughts or interests for somewhere else ... just offering, no pressure :)

Halifax was at the top of my list. :)
99GrandAMSE
07-23-2007, 05:53 PM
No big deal either way ... I know everyone likes it in PEI too but figured I'd make the offer ... as always, majority rules :)

The last Halifax meet was 2002, so I think we're due. ;)

Any chance we can schedule this for the middle of September?

So you are a definete maybe..
Would love it if you can make it. Now we just gotta work on getting everyone elses input. Dan, Trina, Greg etc etc etc... (I was going to list the whole list but I know I would leave someone out so I stop here :) )

Hm.... I'm in.
But can't make it for the 15-16 nor 22-23 weekend in September. I'll be in or travelling back form Orlando on those dates.
Will keep my eyes on this thread to see what decision is made...

I'm in ... any ideas of what you guys want to do ... BBQ at my place? ... anyone want to stay here? ... post them up :) ... also, post up some possible dates :)
JMILLS
07-26-2007, 10:23 AM
Later in September the better for me. I guess my possible new job has an 8 week blackout period from the last two weeks of july through the first two weeks in september. But where I would be new and in training I don't think there would be a huge issue with any dates.
sunrunner_pei
07-26-2007, 10:32 AM
I can't go after Sept 23, as Karen will be in the potato fields. :(
99GrandAMSE
07-26-2007, 10:35 AM
... looks like September 14/15/16 area then?
sunrunner_pei
07-26-2007, 10:38 AM
That is best for me, but I'm not the only one attending. :) We'll go with the majority. :)
99GrandAMSE
07-26-2007, 10:42 AM
... since I am local, I don;t care either but since Jason said the first two weeks and you said not after the 23rd, it leaves that area

07-26-2007, 10:44 AM

I should be able to make it, Halifax is only 40 minutes away.
JMILLS
07-26-2007, 10:51 AM
We can do it any weekend, If I have to drive up friday night after work, I will.
sunrunner_pei
07-26-2007, 10:52 AM
That'sd be a late arrival! Especially to Halifax, which is aboot 2.5 hours longer than your ride to Moncton.
JMILLS

Hmm, good point. I didn't realize where Halifax is... lol. I looked at the Cat Ferry, but if my math is right, the price is terrible.

Jason, yes, the Cat ferry is expensive. I live a few hours from that ferry, but when going to Orlando I'll be driving around to Portland, ME to catch a filght for that exact reason.

Yeah, I looked into the CAT the last few years for the Albany trip, especially the year I drove straight from Albany to our cottage an hour South of Halifax. The expense was unjustifiable. :(

For reference Jason, it takes about 8-9 hours to come from Augusta to my house, if memory serves me correctly :)

Boo! I might be able to, who knows. Dont base any dates around me, just need to have adequate notice so I can book the time off. Stupid crap comes up all the time with me so its hard to plan anything sadly.
Oh, and Jason, if you were going after work I could meet up with you in Moncton, maybe less of a boring drive? Up to you depending on what your doin i suppose.

Offtopic-sortof but how was this years Moncton meet? Did I miss much? I'm kinda ahead of myself but i dont even think i'll be able to make it this coming year either, since I'll probably be travelling to the states for a couple weeks in april, so thats gonna suck, but i'm gonna demand a re-moncton meet for the Atlantic Nationals for 2008 ;)

He is more then welcome to come to our house (yes, we have a house now!!!) on the friday night, have a good nights sleep on our spare bed, and then we could play follow the leader in the morning going to Halifax :)
That is assuming I can go, but weather or not I can go to Halifax that weekend, Jason & Beth, you are more then welcome to stay the night with us.
Chances are Trina & I are open for any weekend, but in September Trina will be back to School, which means all her work shifts will be on weekends, so it might be sketchy!

no problems with me, just that it might be only me coming where Trina could be working :) and there is a good chance I could be broke as well :)
Never been to a meet before and was wondering what to expect. Also where in Halifax would we be getting together? Seeing that I've never met a fellow GAOC member other than online I'll feel a little out of place.

Well heres the deal, we just listed our house for sale yesterday in hopes of a quick sale, we then placed an offer on a nicer house today contingent on the sale of our home, we meet with our banker tommorow to figure out downpayments etc, so we will see how that goes.
