How much do you have to pay?
Car looks good with it, so I can see how you want to keep it.

Seems pretty simple to me.....take it off.
My daughter got a $100.00 ticket for hers. Normally they'll give a warning, as they did with me, but cops don't seem to have much mercy on kids.
I had mine changed to the legal limit and we just scraped hers off.

the ticket is $50 dollars here but they don't give u a warning they give you a violation correction form and if u correct the violation they drop the ticket, but the tint was $200 and if i take it off all the doors it will look stupid

so, so far, your tint has cost you $350? How many times can you get a ticket before something else happens? It's not worth it to me, but to each his own.

trooper first 2 times this one was from a town cop. I don't think he knew what he was talking about because i thought, and the trooper that pulled me over before said that just the front window, drivers, and passenger window couldn't be tinted.

I got pulled over a few times for the tint on my back windows. The worse thing about it is that mini vans, suv's and trucks can have tint on their back windows but cars can't
Conclusion: Lame law

Yup 23% is way darker then the legal limit. Most of the time you can get away with it if your state is a 30 or 35.

I had 5% on my 2005 mustang and a state trooper got me when I lived in MD. I had to get it removed, get the car reinspected, and than re-register it.

It's IS just the front drivers and passenger windows. He needs to look up the section code and read the discription for himself. If that were the case it would be illegal for automanufactures to sell SUVs with rear tinted glass in NYS.
Our GA had 20% all the way around, well until I got stopped twice in one week for it. That sunday I peeled off the drivers and passenger tint.

That is incorrect. Go search the code that says that, look it up I'm positive you will find no code that states the rear windows can not be tinted.
Due to her job my wife has a database at her work of laws that is updated as laws are changed. She once posted the exact code and discription of the law regaurding window tint in NYS. Try a search by it, her screen name is Y2KGAGT. I looked for it but it may have been deleted, not sure when it was posted. Also my father inlaw is in the Police department for 20 years now IIRC and has also quoted us the exact discription of the law my wife had found.
That website is wrong.

Why cause it's posted on a website, must be the truth then.

Well Ive checked three different sites and they have all said that. Even the NY state site.
if you have a 1992 or later model year passenger car or station wagon, the side windows adjacent to AND behind the operators seat must have a light transmittance of SEVENTY PERCENT or greater. If you own a vehicle classified by the EPA as a truck or light truck ONLY the area BEHIND the operators seat may be tinted with a tint less than seventy percent. These types of vehicles include but are not limited to: SUVs, Mini Vans, Full size vans and Pick up trucks.

You guys have it rough.. We can have any percent on the back windows.. and nothing on the front..
But they're very leniant.. *knock on wood* I have 5% on the bad and 35% on the front..

Well as soon as my wife has time she'll look up the actual law from the database. I didn't realize she could log into it from home but she says she can. She works in government affairs so this is what she does every day working with lobbiest, legislation, and the state senate so her information has got to be up to date and correct.

Ahhh no hard feelings John. I know how bad NY state tint laws are as my best bud is from there but bought a TBSS here in TN had it registered in NY and had tint put on it here. Went up to NY for leave and got a tint ticket. It was rather funny.

We can have any amount of the back windows. I myself have 20% all around. Got the car tinted not long after I bought it. I have peen pulled over many times for many different reasons, no one has ever said jack about my tint.

Nah no hard feelings here either. Shoot if I'm wrong I'm wrong. My wife is having issues finding what she had last time, all she can find is about SUVs. But notice the website that was posted about tint laws, the law shown was enacted in 1991, 16 years ago. Alot in the industry has changed since then.
I know even after removing tint from our front two windows on the GA nearly every time I was stopped they asked me to roll up the drivers side window. Never a word about the rears.
And both our Exploder and my S10 have factory tinted glass on rear side windows. No way to remove it other than replacing the glass. So if it's illegal GM and Ford would have to flip the bill for everyone ticket for tinted rear glass on all vehicles sold in the state.

Yea I think that some states take tint laws way way way too serious.
The newest info I found was also from the early 90's. Heck you might try and make a push in NY to get some updated laws.

IMO it doesn't look too dark, really it doesn't but.. if you have to pay it make sure you leave something nice for them in the memo of your check something like f*ck cops... <--- Had a buddy do that when they got him for tint and it was hilarious when I saw it. But either way new york is hard on lots of things involving vehicles.. what you ought to do is move out to like north Dakota or something where the only people that live there is like Kirby pucket and Seth hutchensen
