Im not too sure if this is the right place to post this specific topic

Hey guys i havent been on here in a while but heres a little bit of an update and a couple of questions.

Around the end of may the transmission on my 92 grand am gave out on me and i decided with all the problems it gave me im not gonna waste more money getting a new transmission so i went shopping. After checking a few places I found a 2000 Grand Am GT which i instantly fell in love with 80000 miles on it very clean and runs perfectly i think it was a pretty good deal for 7400 bucks. Well anyway I want to add some more power and style to it. I want to get a new muffler but i like the look of the dual outlet from the muffler i have now and the mufflers ive been looking at wouldnt accomadate it that and i dont know whuch ones have the best sound i want something thatll add some power and make the car sound mean(not a ricey high pitch one) i was thinking th borla cat back but i have heard they are illegal in some states and i dont know if illinois is one of them. Also i am planning on getting a doctorspeed intake. If anyone could give me some links to good site for things like exhaust or a place to get a new hood with scoops on it.

pfyc.com has the sc/t hood and bodykit and alot of people on here go with a flowmaster 80 series for a muffler, it fits in the stock location with the stock hangers and its a single inlet and dual outlet,

so i have a littl bit of an update and i didnt want to post a whole new thread i just recently had a breakdown. My connecting rod was knocking and on the way to the shop to get it checked out my car brokedown and im getting a new engine put in. So i've decided what better time to put on some performance upgrades. I'm doing them myself because i think half the fun and satisfaction is knowing you put them on yourself. I was thinking about an MP Racing cold air kit (figured i'd suport some of our supporters) and a pacesetter cat back(the one on the MP racing site). Im concerned about power most but i do want a nice mean sound. How would this combo do for me? I'm Also thinking about some stuff from grafxworks and some S+S headers but thats a whole other story.

The exhaust was originally made to accompany the headers Pacesetter made for the 2.4, but on the 99+ GA the exhaust is universal between engines. So an exhaust made for the 2.4 will work on the 2.2 and 3.4 (if all engines have the stock exhaust), 3.4 exhausts will work for the 2.4 and 2.2, and 2.2 exhaust will work for 2.4 and 3.4. This is all based on just a cat-back, any farther up and it'll need custom work.

Yeah my car is boe stock right now. I had plent saved to start doing work on it but like i said i needed a whole new engine so i'm starting fresh now. I can afford the CAI right now but the exhaust is going to have to be next on my list. I dont know if i want to put out the extra money for the cat back or just get a flowmaster 80 series muffler. Would the power gain from the cat be worth the extra money or is it not that much of a difference? I've heard that if you're going to do an intake mod you should also follow it with exhaust to make it even.
