So I'm just wondering here, i bought a magnaflow muffler (14266) and I haven't a clue if its 2.25 or 2.5 but whatever, but in any event I was looking at getting some of these tips from here:

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_747674_-1_10255

So anyway, I don't want a resonator cuz if i want it quieter, I'll just stick a res on it. and from the specs from the magnaflow website, I'm guessing that the outlets toward the tips are 2.25 So i'm guessing i need to get part # "520-21417" (2nd one down from Without Resonator)

Just need to confirm that would be the tips I need? I didn't know there was a difference between tips with or without a res but who knows.

If it doesnt make sense, i'm sorry, i'm a bit tired. :) Help is mucho appreciated.

Tips are nothing more than eye candy, they dont do anything at all but look pretty.

So pick whatever you like.

Read the post jackass.

I'm wondering the size of the piping that'll be coming out from the muffler.

If you read the muffler specs you had seen they are 2.25" coming out of the muffler........jack ass. Is that not obvious enough for you?

Any shop can make 2.25" or 2.5" work.

1. Figure out your piping diameter first. It will be a mess if you mix sizes.
2. Tips are 99% looks. Don't worry if they are 'resonated' or not - it will not matter.
3. Don't use those hooker tips. They rust to pieces within a year or 2.

That's really not necessary.

A 1/4" difference in size really isnt hard to make work, but i agree getting the right size makes it all that much easier in the long run. According to the specs the outs are 2.25" so obviously the piping is gonna be 2.25" so the tips should also be 2.25". Kinda a no brainer.

Tips for me werent really a big deal, i just have two, black tips on mine, it actually looks kinda cool. My only fear with tips is that they dont rust after 10 months like my old chrome ones did.

Thats why its nice to just pay the extra money the first time and get stainless.

I'll be getting some sort of stainless ones. I had chromed tips from Canadian Tire (equal to Auto Zone in the US) and I bought some high heat clear coat, put like 5 coats of cleat in the inside and out, put them on the car, and they rusted after a year. They're rusted right on there now so I cant even take them off. Which probably provoked me to get a new exhaust cuz it looks horrible lol.

Can't allow that to pass Mike ... you are a good fella, but that certainly wasn't called for ... yes, Rand can be a sarcastic individual at time but in this particular thread, he was calm and did not deserve your comment :(
