anyone who has driven a 92 - 98 GA knows that the suspension isn't the greatest.

I noticed on a Chrysler that came into the shop one day that it had huge rubber bushings that divide the frame rails from the body of the car and was thinking about adding some bushings between the frame rails and chassis of my car.

I figure aside from the control arm bushings, there is very little shock absorption between the wheels and the body of the car; and if Chrysler does it there is probably a reason why.

First off I wanted to get some opinions from you guys as I figure you know more about modifications than I do; was wondering if its possible to do this or not.

If I were to place say a 0.5" bushings between the rear of both frame rails I would have to also add 0.5" to the front by use of more bushings or washers. I was even thinking about putting spacers and additional shock absorption between the strut mounts and chasis. That would increase ride height slightly, which is fine because I can set the ride height in the rear because I have air adjustable shocks.

I figure the tie rods should be fine, might have to enlarge the opening in the wheel well where the tie rods come out of the engine bay but I doubt it.

Also have the dog bone engine mount, but thats easy enough to modify.

my main question is; if I do space the frame rails 0.5" - 1" with bushings, do I have to space the strut mounts - chassis as well?

I wouldn't mess with it. Any problem or failure would be rather dangerous.
