Are they a good choice of tire for a 98 GAGT? I won't be racing and I will have a different pair for the winter.

The Potenza G009 are a very good tire, I've had them on for more than a year (over 12,000 miles) and have plenty of tread left, even with them being driven for who knows how long before I bought the car. Why are you changing them for the winter? They are an all-season tire, and handle very well in the snow and ice.

They seem a bit on the pricey side, but should be a good tire. I had the Potenza RE950's (very similar all-seasons) on my 94 GT... great in rain, fine in the snow too. (and I was commuting 100 miles a day in the Philly area when I had those)
I also recommend Falken Ziex ZE912's... which is another ultra-high performance all-season but not as expensive (or Falken Ziex Ze 512, last year's version) Can find those at http://www.edgeracing.com/
