SES light came on and came up with the p0300 and p1189 codes. I pulled the plugs today to find them soaked in gas and the prongs were very white as if it were running lean. Im not sure were to go from here and was hoping to get some insight. Thanks in advance.

'02 V6, 5 years old, about 60k miles.
Time to change the plugs and wires, anyhow, for best power and fuel milage.
Did you check all of the plugs, or just the easy-to-reach front 3?
Were all plugs wet with gasoline, or only 1 or 2?
If all are wet, then it might be that the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) isn't relieving the pressure properly at low speed/idle.
There are several recent threads abou this, do a quick 'search'.
P0300 = Multiple/random misfire.
I dunno what P1189 means??
Your car is warranteed by GM to pass emissions for 10 years/100k miles.
With this condition, regardless of the source, it won't pass.
Why not just take it to the Pontiac dealer and tell them to fix it under terms of the federal EPA emissions warranty?
Hope this helps,
-Rick

All plugs were soaked. Just got done putting in new plugs and fpr about 10 mins ago and it pulled a TON of misfires on the scan tool. rpms would be way down and then the engine would rev up. white smoke out the back. In the front i put the plugs from left to right cylinder 2,4,5 and the the back from left to right 1,3,5

p1189 is low oil pressure code. p0300 my guess is fpr or injectors all sticking there are lots of bulletins on them. do you know which cylinders are missing?

For GM, P1189 = Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) Switch Circuit
This MAY mean 'low oil pressure', but not necessarily; it certainly will come be thrown if the oil pressure drops too low for more than about 5 seconds while the engine is running.
But it doesn't necessarily mean a problem with the oil pressure.
Note that it says a problem with the 'switch circuit'.
The GA V6 has a special circuit that turns off the fuel injection if the engine is upside down (as in a roll-over collision condition) and therefore loses all oil pressure ('cuz the oil pump sucks air).
This is a safety issue, so you don't turn into a toasted Grand Am after the collision.
If you crank the engine for a long time, and the oil pressure is still low, then this DTC P1189 will be activated; and the FI will be shut-off.
I *think* the fuel pump stops pumping, so if there's a broken fuel line (as a result of the collision) it won't continue to pump fuel all over the car.
For the moment, let's disregard the P1189.

Your plugs were sopping wet with gasoline, before you changed them.
After changing them, you still have driveabilty issues, and 'white smoke' out the exhaust.
You've already replaced the FPR, and that would have been the prime candidate for causing the wet plugs.
It may actually have been the cause, and you have eliminated your original problem.
Your listing of how you replaced the plugs has an error; you stated, "i put the plugs from left to right cylinder 2,4,5 and the the back from left to right 1,3,5."
The front should read 2,4,6.
No big deal; UNLESS you have also mixed-up the plug wires.
Before doing anything else, I would replace the plug wires (shoulda been done with the plugs anyhow, since the wires become much less efficient with age).
I think you might have mis-connected the plug wires as you re-attached them; very easy to do, especially with the rear two on the passenger side (1 and 3).
The best way to replace plugs and wires on the V6 is one at a time, so you can't possibly put a boot on the wrong plug.
Hope this helps,
-Rick
PS: The P1189 will prolly go away by itself.
But, double check:
Is the oil level OK?
Do you actually have oil in the crankcase, or is it the gooey watery chocolate milkshake that indicates a water/coolant leak?
Is the Oil Level icon 'off' (should be).
Is the Oil Pressure icon 'off' (should be).
