Okay, shortly after I got my GA the oil light came on. I went to Valvoline, because I was busy and I know the people that work there, and had my oil changed. Valvoline put a little sticker in the car that says the oil should be changed at 107,404 - exactly 3k miles since it was changed (104,404). I'm at 108,430 or so now, and the oil light still hasn't come on. Should I go on and change the oil now or wait until the light comes on, whenever that may be?:???:

Don't wait for the light, go by mileage and reset the light when it changed :)

Okie dokie. Then I'll change it this weekend and reset the light. I don't suppose I'll see it come on at all. w00t.

... if you really want to see it, change the oil (always going by the mileage remember) BUT for this time only, don't reset the light and it will eventually come on ... then, reset the light and again every time you change the oil and you'll be fine :)

Thanks! :) I think I'll go on and reset it. I got to see it once, that's enough. lol

GM's OLM usally don't come on till 5-8,000 miles, not bad IF your
using a good oil, but plan old dinno no way not for me..

I tried pressing the reset button, but the light wouldn't come on at all. Oh well. If/when it does come on, I'll know it's wrong anyway.

The length of time depends on many factors, none of which are mileage. Those numbers are a good ballpark of when it may happen, but mileage is not used in the calculations. See http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=92 for more info.

I use mobile clean 5000 and a supertech filter and I always just wait for the light, which is usually a while because I drive gently.

And how many miles is that usally?

I drive gently and mine is around 12k miles. I usually change it at 6k, or once a year whichever comes first. It comes out brown, but not as bad as some cars at 3k miles.

Usually between 6000 and 10000 miles.

Your waisting oil.

If i waited for the mileage, all of my vehicles would get their oil changed every 4 years or so

Not really, if the oil is dirty and to be honest, it doesn't take very long for oil to get dirty :( ... honestly, ANY dirt can cause where but it is a matter of how picky and how 'anal' you want to be about it ... personally, I change mine every 5000 KMs (3000 miles) as well and is the interval that I recommend for everyone, especially if they use regular oil ... technically, going by ANY mileage is not proper but is the most common and the easiest for car owners to remember ... rule of thumb is usually anywhere between 3-5000 miles depending on the driving conditions, etc
