So i might be getting a new truck soon and want to hold on to my grandam coupe to screw around with it, make some modifications and have fun with customizing it. Thinking about making it a convertible and wanted to know if anyone has ever tried it before. I'm going to do a simple manual top, no motors or anything, and just wanted to see any pictures of anyone who had ever done it before.

I'm just looking for some feedback, is this a good idea? Original? Practical?

I dont know how it would look on our year cars...dont think it would look nice if everything else was stock but you could try it...I know you would have to modify the frame alot since it would probably to be to weak once the roof is gone. I know they made a concept version for 99+ but o havemt seen one in our years.

Its possible. Just don't expect it to be very good in a crash though unless you do extensive modifcation.

Yes there was another member here who has done it before.

Word to the wise, before you cut anything fully brace the car. It's a Unibody, the roof it a key eliment in it's structural integrity. I would use square tubing to connect the front and rear subframes, and also maybe a X brace. Also inside the trunk behind the rear seats build a Xbrace and get front and rear strut bars. That would be a minimum I would do before cutting the roof.

Graden was the member that took a 92-95 Grand Am and made it into a convertible,so its along the same idea.

As John said, don't cut anything until you brace the frame. Your car will actually end up weighing more if done right, due to the beefier frame required for a convertible.

also gut the entier car. if its a 2 door i would make a Z brace behind where the front seats would go. or Z brace the whole inside when cuttin the roof

hope you have the right tools to remove all the glass
