I tried the search and it seems like the switch is a common problem on GA's, but everybody seems to have the opposite problem as me with their blinker going off randomly, or too fast, or clicking when not on. My problem is sometimes the blinkers wont work at all, no clicking or nothing. They will work fine one minute, hazards and all, then not the next time I go to make a turn. The switch clicks into place like it should, but the green arrows dont illuminate, and there is no clicking sound. Is this still a switch problem? Is it a clean/adjust problem like mentioned, or would it be better just to replace the entire switch?

have you seen this thread about the recall?

If you tap/smack the hazard switch button I bet they'll come back on.

I did not see that thread, thanks! I have a 99 GA GT though...is this still covered? I will try the hazard smack on my lunch break if it does it again to confirm its this exact problem.

The hazard button love tap worked like a charm. I fooled around with the button until I got it to be non functional again, slaped it, and bingo, worked again. Got the problem to repeat 3 times, and a tap or jiggle of the button is all it took like you said.

Now the question....being a 99, this probably isnt covered in the recall is it :( Any other helpful links for a DIY job including part numbers for a 99?

EDIT: Just called the dealership. He gave me some BS about having to make certain that it was indeed the hazard switch, and that it would be $100 just to look at it even if GM covered the rest. Think I'll just ge the $30 switch and do it myself

Check with a different dealer. (I hate having to say that all the time) but when they did the recall on my 2000 they said they would charge me the diagnostic fee IF it was not the switch. In your case it obviously is and should be covered 100%. Good luck but I'm also thinking that it is almost always better to stay the hell away from the stealership.

find a newer GA in a boneyard and jack its switch.

All 99 GA are now covered by the recall. Give him the VIN # and he can look it up for free before you ever give him your keys.
