well, the past month or two, ive noticed a sortof grinding sound coming from the front driver's side. ill try my best to explain it.

whenever i am driving, there is a ticking sound coming from the drivers side front wheel well, and its in unison with the wheel speed. whenever i drive on residential streets, the ticking noise is slow...when on the highway, its really fast. (this is all w/out using my brakes) now, when i go to brake, the ticking noise becomes a grinding noise and doesnt stop until the wheels are stopped. i want to add that i noticed the wheel has more black dust on it than any other wheel since i washed it last.

ive noticed that this is starting to happen with the pass. front wheel as well when i drive next to walls.

now, this made me believe that it was the brake pads worn down...well, i took it to my neighbor who fixes cars almost every day for people, he took the wheel off, checked the brakes and pads, and said that everything looks normal. he heard the sound and just said its normal and ill have to deal w/ it. i just cant fathom that this is a normal sound, hints why im posting now. if you guys have had this happen and might know the possible problems, plz let me know b/c this is bugging the crap out of me. thanks.

I just had a similar problem with mine, and it was that the pads were scraping on a small lip in the rotors caused by rotor wear. I sanded down the lip in the rotors with my Dremel, and all was fine. Check to see if a lip is forming at the edges of your rotors, and give it a try if it's there.

Does you brake pedal pulse when you stop?

------- no, it doesnt.

i was thinking it could b a wheel bearing as well, but wuld it b worse when braking, which made me cross that off.
