offset question

ok i was told my 02 se had a 42 off set.... its really f'ing hard to find a set of black or black and chrome in a 42 offset.... some sites have the offset as fwd does that mean i dont have to get 42 offset can i put a 40 offset on it? as long as its still 5x115?

As long as its a positive offset,
to little of a offset and your tire will rub on the inner finder to much and it could hit on the caliper.

so a 40 and a 45 offset rim would have no problems? because thats all im finding
